The division implements and enforces the county’s Erosion Control and Stormwater Management Programs, manages the county lakes, and provides technical assistance to county departments regarding water resources. Erosion Control Information on erosion control including erosion control permits. Permit goal is to prevent or reduce soil erosion from land disturbing activities. Stormwater Management Information on stormwater management including stormwater management permits. Permit goal is to permanently reduce or minimize the negative impacts of stormwater runoff quantity and quality after land development activities. Lake Management Information on LWRD lake management activities including lake levels for the Yahara Chain of Lakes and aquatic plant management. Ripple Effects The Madison Area Stormwater Partnership (MAMSWaP) is coalition of Dane County municipalities and organizations working together to promote practices that reduce and improve stormwater runoff into Dane County lakes, rivers and streams.
